Job Description

We’re currently seeking an experienced  bilingual Medical Payment Poster/Collections  Specialist with medical experience to join our medical practice. The individual must possess strong communication skills, detail oriented, ability to multi-task and work well independently, as well as in a  team environment.

 

The job tasks will include but not limited to the following:

Payment Poster

  • Completes payment entry in a timely and accurate manner
  • Posts payments to practice management system (live checks within 24 hrs., online credit cards payments next business day, ERA’s within 72 hours)
  • Records batch totals with date and initials on payment receipt spreadsheet
  • Balances batches and runs transaction reports
  • Verifies all EFT deposits and scanned checks have been posted by month end
  • Properly communicates and documents payment denials in the practice management system and to the appropriate billing representative in a timely manner
  • Identifies any payments not being paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicates this to the direct supervisor and or CFO/Controller
  • Create batches patient statements electronically on a monthly basis
  • Cross trained to provide department coverage, as needed
  • Maintains professional knowledge regarding medical billing and coding procedures, insurance carriers, federal programs.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time efficiently

Medical Biller

  • Work with the flow in the Practice Management System to create and post daily encounters/claims for services rendered at the office
  • Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in according to coding and billing guidelines
  • Follow up with providers on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
  • Ensure all claims are clean at the time of submission to avoid errors (proper CPT, ICD-10, facility according to insurance)
  • Daily transmission to the clearance house at the end of day
  • Check transmission, correct errors, resubmit batches and confirm receipt of batches by the health plan
  • Verify patient demographic as needed to ensure clean claim for transmission
  • Ensure that all claim information is accurate according to Health Plan (facility, physician)
  • Reconcile claims/encounter at the end of month to make sure all claims/encounter posted and submitted

 Medical Collections:

  • Work daily denials from insurance companies to determine if a claim needs to be refilled, submit an appeal with the insurance carrier, or submit medical records for review.
  • Process appeals online or via paper submission
  • Maintain a daily and monthly productivity and performance metrics
  • Identify claim denial causes and trends
  • Work accounts based on aging report within the practice management system
  • Contact Insurance companies to follow up status of unpaid claims and work accordingly
  • Handle complex calls from insurance companies/patients identifying the problem and escalating issues as needed.
  • Update patient’s demographics in practice management system as needed if causing claims rejections due to wrong demographic information
  • Monitor the company’s patient AR and identify overdue accounts
  • Contact patients with overdue accounts and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan to collect it in installments.
  • Maintain records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent patient account as well as records of any payments collected from the patients.
  • Resolve any patient issues and complaints concerning billing.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage time efficiently
  • Provide excellent customer service (patient care) and communicate with direct supervisor or Controller if any challenges with collections

Requirements

  1. Previous experience, medical background a plus
  2. Goal oriented and organize
  3. Team player and customer service oriented
  4. Knowledge of EMR’s and medical billing

All patients are screened at the entrance.

Masks are mandatory while in our facility, no mask-no entry.

Our Staff is required to wear all safety equipment, googles, mask and protective gowns to ensure yours and their safety.

Hand Sanitizer is available at the entrance and throughout the facility, we ask everyone to sanitize their hands when entering the office, the same way, our staff must sanitize their hands before and after a patient encounter.

Screening for Symptoms- When arriving at our facilities a health questionnaire will be provided before entering with questions about any cough, fever, exposure to the virus. Our staff is also screened daily prior to arriving to our facilities.

Temperature is taken at the door prior to entering the facilities.

Common areas such as waiting rooms and restrooms are cleaned often, especially the frequently touched areas.

Exam Rooms are disinfected between each patient and extensively cleaned at the end of the day.

Waiting Rooms have been arranged to maintain social distancing, our furniture has been changed to create the space required between patients and we have placed markers on our furniture and floors to guide our patients where to stand and seat.

We want our patients to feel secure while in our facilities receiving the excellent and compassionate care they deserve while keeping them safe. EliteHealth follows all safety recommendations from the CDC (Centers from Disease Control). Our patient safety is our greatest concern and all we do is with you in mind.
